Performance pay comes from the world of sales and the notion of commission. Fact is, the government cannot privatize the public educational system--though they try and try.
While some may agree that a performance pay system is valid, the problems arise when some attempt to develop a measurement system to determine who "earns" the performance pay and who does not!
Good Luck....

some people any more choose the teaching job because they look at it as what do they do besides sit there
some teachers will bite a kids head off for not understanding
or asking them to help with a problem and the rule is no child left behind well there still are alot of children left behind
when complaints are made most are not looked into
if they want better pay there should be better teachers
and this is bad because of the teachers that are great teachers they make learning fun and try to help different students these teachers will make an impact on students and they won't be forgotten
but for the ones that need different jobs until there is patients and understanding in life
they need to pay students performance pay also

I don't think performanace pay if fair to the teacher. It may be obvious who is not doing their job by grades or testing sometimes. The children now are of the thought that everything is owed to them, I think they want it easy, like a computer chip put in their brain so they can make money without thinking. I think school is getting way out of hand with teaching so students pass the test to rate their school higher.
I am all for teachers to attendend some sort of ongoing schooling themselves. Or atleast be tested in the area they are teaching. This proves who they are, the students have to want to learn. Some schools keep you in your major and some don't and some subs stay forever and don't have a clue.

because some teachers just don't really care and is going through the motions and some teachers just aren't good teachers. teachers get paid worse than alot of other professions...if not performance pay...then they should get paid a whole lot more...however, they must prove they are good teachers and deserve the money, and not just because they ARE a teacher....my wife was one, she quit, didn't make enough money for the abuse she took from coworkers, principals, admin and especially parents. yes, I feel teadchers are underpaid, however, after meeting some of my wife's ex coworkers...I think some are not fit to be teachers and are currently being overpaid for their performance. And this is PRIVATE SCHOOL!

I'm with you. The only argument for it is that bad teachers make the same amount of money as good teachers but that just makes money the most important thing in teaching which it isn't. You have to have a passion for learning and a concern, if not love, for your students. That's going to make you a good teacher and more money never will.
