hey,
don't worry about the use around the time of conception. The baby doesn't actually 'feed' on mommy until it nested into the womb and the umbrical cord gets established. This takes around 2 weeks after conception. So unless something happened withing the last week, it should have been out of your sisters system before the baby started to share her bloodsupply.
I just hope your sister knows that her party days are over, and i sincerly hope that that is why she took it and that this is not an ongoing thing.
If it is an ongoing thing it will result in the baby being born with withdrawl symtoms, and that is IF she doesn't end up loosing it.
The poor child deserves better, even if it was unplanned... there is other options, like adoption!
Anyhow, i hope your sister did try to get pregnant and does the right thing. Good luck.
Mel

I was smoked pot when I was about a week pregnant (I had no idea I was pregnant at the time of course) and I cried for weeks after I found out i was pregnant, i felt like the worst person in the world. Until my doctor told me that at that early stage of pregnancy, the umbilical cord hasn't fully developed yet and the baby is still feeding off the nutrition that was stored in the egg; it's barely connected to you and a one time drug use very early in pregnancy should be fine. If she continues this however there is major risk to the baby. But if she is 2 1/2 weeks late and she did it only once a couple weeks ago, I wouldn't worry too much about it, the baby will be fine.

Hey there, look she should be fine. As long as she doesnt do it again. Seen as it was the very first stages even before implantation when she took the extacy and drank it would be very rare that any damage or anything would of happened to the feotus. I got very drunk just before i found out i was pregnant. and I still feel a little guilty for doing it. but my son is perfectly fine. Those sort of drugs do the most damage around the 5-10 week bracket cause that is when the major organs are forming. If you or your sis are still guite worried, when she goes to see the dr, just eplain it to him or her and they can check that everything is fine for her. All the best with everything. and Congratulations!! for your sis and for you too on becoming an auntie. Hugs for you both!

It would do her and the baby more harm to worry about it than what actually happened. There's probably nothing wrong. Most people don't find out they're pregnant until after they've done something they would regret if they knew. Fortunately, while the fetus is doing a lot of things in the first trimester, not too many of those things are influenced by the specifics of what mommy eats or drinks.

I think the baby will be fine, you really don't have too much to worry about in the first trimester. A lot of people don't know they are preggers and drink in the first trimester. Just make her stop partying until she is sure.

Any girl who takes drugs (extacy) or drinks, shouldn't be allowed to keep these poor kids when they arre born.
There are plenty of couples who can't have children who would love and raise the child as there own.

She should definatly mention it to her doctor just to be safe, but the likely hood of it hurting the baby from 1 time that early in her pregnancy is pretty slim.
She should def. not do it anymore though!

this is particularly straightforward for women persons to have recognizing in the 1st trimester... this is in lots of cases a reaction using hormonal alterations on your physique. whilst my mom become pregnant with me, she mistook recognizing as her menstrual cycle (she become particularly unusual), so whilst i become born, they theory i become 3 months pre-mature and become stunned whilst the healthcare professional stated that i become complete term. If recognizing maintains after your first trimester or you be conscious that the bleeding starts getting heavier and darker, be optimistic to circulate on the instant to the ER and spot a doctor.

Don't worry, unless she continues to do this. She needs to have prenatal care. Make sure she sees a doctor.
