Well, I hate to scare you, but it does acid rain now. The main culprit is CO2, which dissolves in water to form the weak carbonic acid. This is the same chemical that gives the fizz in sodas. With normal CO2 levels, the pH of rain is about 5.5. Other pollutants, or an elevated CO2 level, can lower the rain pH. As an idea of relative strength, the acid strength of rain with CO2 is about 1/300th that of vinegar. Usually, the ground has sufficient CaCO3 (limestone) to neutralize acid rain, so that most fresh water lakes and rivers have a pH that is ever-so-slightly basic. However, the buffering process doesn't last forever, and with more acid in the rain, the time is shortened.

There already is acid rain. You can see acid rain damage on forest growth in various parts of the world. Google it.

It will not. Acid rain forms due to pollution in the air. Now the pollution is pretty well controlled by the EPA.

Don't worry ! You will live a long life ! !
