That depends...Am I being told upfront what I can and cannot say to the President? If I am told that certain subjects/issues are "off limits" and cannot be discussed (irregardless of whether or not an issue is something I do or don't support), then I will politely decline the invitation. He's supposed to be "the people's" President and he should listen to the people. If he (or his handlers) wish to censor me--deny me my constitutional right to Freedom of Speech--then I am not interested in any conversation with the President at all.

Anyone who would decline an american presidents dinner invitation is a moron. plain and simple, they should join the low lifes you turn their backs on politicians during their graduations. But anyway I would go no matter who it was and show them the respect they deserve for serving this country.

I would go! Wouldn't pass up a gourmet meal. Plus I love discussing politics, especially, with people who I don't agree on the issues. Hope he doesn't have a bed time because political discussion can last all night long.

Heck yea I'm going, although I'm not at all crazy about him. I would like to be able to ask him some hard-hitting questions about Iraq, the environment, healthcare, etc. I would hope he'd be well-prepared knowing he was having a democrat come in asking him the questions he needs to be asked that he still has no answers to.

I'll say: "Thank you immensely, Mr. President. You're too kind for allowing me the opportunity to dine with you and your wife. I will always cherish this honour, sir."

Probably eat, considering that's what you do during dinner.

Ask if I can pick my own wine; if not, I'll need to see the list ahead of time.
