Most likely your friend has a computer monitor with either componant cables or a componant to DVI converter. Most new Computer Monitors have some sort of DVI port, so probably this is the way he/she is doing it.

If you want to do it, first you have to fingure out what kind of inputs your computer monitor can handle. If you have a DVI connection, then your best bet would be to look for a componant (The Video and Audio plug connections) to DVI converter online or in a gaming store. The Gamecube comes with the output to componant plugs, but not to DVI which is why the converter is neccisary. With this, you should be able to plug your GCN to your Computer Monitor.

Depends on the type of computer you have but you will probably have to buy a cable to convert the gamecube graphics to your computer screen. Some of the newer computers already have this component built in so check before you buy the adaptor.

In short no. You can use the broadband adapter hack to load homebrew games from your pc onto you GC. But you can't play gamecube games on your computer since the hardware isnt capable of being emulated yet. Are you sure he wasnt just using a video in/capture card to display it on his monitor/pc?

you can use your gamecube on the internet with an adaptor...sorry but i cant find the link right now, but google searches may bear fruit. but the ps2 is different, it actually has an extensive online service (no xbox live but close-ish). the gamecube online only has mario kart double dash i think.
