Yemen, officially the Republic of Yemen (Arabic: اÙج٠ÙÙرÙØ© اÙÙÙ ÙÙØ© ), is a Middle Eastern country located on the Arabian Peninsula in Southwest Asia. Yemen is composed of former North and South Yemen. It borders the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden with Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea on the south and east, the Red Sea on the west, Oman to the northeast and the rest of the country borders Saudi Arabia. Its territory includes over 200 islands, the largest of which is Socotra, about 415 kilometres (260 mi) to the south off the coast of Somalia.

Its capital is San'a and it formerly comprises two countries: Southern Yemen and Yemen.
