If it has been a while since she bought it, the only thing she can do is sell it. Selling a timeshare can be really tough. She will be lucky to sell it for half of what she bought it for. The Timeshare User's Group (tug2.net) has some information on how to sell a timeshare. I wish her the best. See these websites:

If she has it completely paid off, she can try to donate it to a charity and get a tax deduction for it. There are a number of places to try and sell it (ebay, craigslist, local papers), but she should never pay an upfront fee to sell it (those are all scams) through a broker.

If she will look towards the front of her time share she will see a large rectangular shape. That is the door. Find the handle on the door and turn it. That is how I get out of my time share.

Timeshares are like having property, you have to sell it. I always see an ad on TV that will buy them from people regardless of the company.
