The US may have a lot of problems, but unless you're refeing to the liberal left as being fascist, by their open hostility to all things LEGAL, the US does not have a problem with fascism.

Sounds like your teacher needs an education in history.

According to Political Science scholars the defining characteristic of Fascism is that the good of the State comes before the good of the individual. The system is more important than the people in the system. Individual rights are secondary to the rights of the State.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

Look at how interested people are in the criminal justice system -- Court TV, all the media attention for criminal trials, etc.

Look at recent attempts by some states to pass laws that allow the people to vote a judge out of office if they don't like the sentence the judge imposes.

Look at some of the recent comments and suggestions about changing the criminal justice system, to make conviction based on popular vote (like American Idol) rather than having a jury system.
