I would pick a Dell. I have one right now, it is a 6-year old Inspiron that runs great. Dell also has great deals and coupons you can find at http://www.24houredeals.com/Dell-coupons-23-mer.html

Good luck.

I'd choose the one with the best features. Hard drive space, graphics capabilities, etc. If they are exactly the same, or too close in that regard, I'd choose the Vaio, because I trust Sony more than Dell. But just a little bit more.

God bless.

Of the two, a Dell. For one thing, I don't trust Sony ever since they inserted a rootkit on my pc via a Sony CD. They've backed away from that and "apologized", but I wouldn't buy another Sony product at all.

i've known so many vaio users and after about a year and a half to two years, everyone complains that it slows down considerably. since these are models from two years ago, they might've improved their performance, but the dell users i know say their laptops are still running strong

i would use a vaio... the government uses dell mostly and since they always go to the lowest bidder... that tells me quality may suffer. i'm sure dell isn't bad really but just on that impression!

The Sony Vaio would probably be cheaper, depending on the features. I have one, and it is very fast and reliable
