The HCG blood test tell what the HCG level is so that they will know if you are miscarring or if the baby is growing like it should, good luck

Some women bleed during pregnancy, but it can also be an indication of a miscarriage or a threatened miscarriage. It sounds like your doctor wants to do a quantitative HCG. This is more than just a positive or negative test. It tests for the same hormone that home pregnancy tests do, but it tests for the specific amount. Normal pregnancies double the amt of HCG in the blood over a specific time frame. If the HCG is not doubling w/in the normal time frame, is very low for the gestational age of the baby, or is decreasing, there could be a problem w/ the baby.

Good luck.
