She ruined my future. When I was a senior in high school, I was dating a very wonderful girl. She was a freshman in high school. I'm in my sophomore year in college and she is a junior right now. 4 months ago, we broke up. 5th months ago, we made love. That time, we were very much in love with each other. and now, she is telling that she will accusing me of statutory rape. Can she do that? She did let me get access to her goods. It wasn't like I was forcing her. It is a mutual decision when we decided.

If she is under the legal age limit then she very well may be able to pursue this legally. However as I understand it she is in college now with you, as a Junior which would not make her a minor. She can not press changes if you both were of legal age. You need to check the age limit in your state and see where you stand. If you think she may be serious then you should talk to a lawyer for advise on how to fight it.

I agree with you..this is not fair and she is trying to ruin your life. Good luck with everything and protect yourself!

It is not a question of can she do that. Will she do it is the questoin. She can accuse you of anything she wants to. Due to the fact she was under age and you had sex with her with you being what 20 is what is going to get you into trouble. What in the world was you thinking of dating someone so much younger then you? Did her parents know she was dating you? For it to be statutory rape it does not matter if it was consenting or not. The law is not based on consent it is based upon the age difference. In my opinion you need to get her to confess in an e-mail or recording that she is using this to get back at you for whatever reason and then higher you a good lawyer to defend you in court if she takes it that far.

Depends on the state you live in, but if she was 14 or 15, you may be in deep water. Before this gets out of hand, see an attorney. It will be worth the $200 or so that it will cost to see if your life is truly "ruined" or not.

I'm not an attorney, but I don't think it matters much whether it was "consensual" or not. You might want to post this in the "legal" section, but as the guy above me says, Yahoo "Answers" is not the place to get a definitive answer. Get professional legal help - fast.

It depends on what the state law says. Contact a criminal lawyer on this one it is important. This type of lawsuit can affect your life and career regardless of whether it results in a financial or physical penalty that you may have to pay. Don't ask for help here. Ask someone who knows the law!!!
