I believe the quote is- the Love of money is the root of all evil. The church needs money to pay bills like everyone else. They also support missionarys, help the poor and probably a hundred other things that I can't think of right now because I'm so tired.

"money is not the root of all evil"
it can even make you happy
the too much love for money is the root of evil, not money itself, cause you see if you had been a bad person before and you would use your riches to help pthers, that help is not evil itself

They are helping you get rid of your evil and hopefully spending it on less evil (and hence more worthy) causes. Water flows from a higher level to a lower level.

it is religion that is the root of all evils!
Religion is the root of all wars!
Therefore, the root of all evil!
Maybe cash came into it, but as I see it, it is all down the bible, Koran, etc, etc!
Think about it, all wars and terrorism acts are done/started by religious freaks!
this goes back for centuries!
All religious fanatic freaks!
Be an atheist!
That is the best bet!

Poor churches need the money to pay rent/mortgage, utilities, etc.

Better-off churches use the money for charities.
