America is young as compared to the past civilizations in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Wars destroyed the ancient civilizations.

I have studied many wars - my son loved military history even when he was young. There have been long, deadly wars fought long before the USA was even born. Bush was not around for the last 24 US wars that started as young colonies. If they want to point fingers , shall we start with WWII & WWI - civilation not at it's best & patriotism at it's best.
Wars in other countries started earlier & way more casualties.
You are right according to history - Iraq is a disagreement not the end of civilization as we know it.

Yes they do remember.
No offense but you seem to be caught up in the American mentality. You have to remember, 90% of Americans are completely illiterate to world history. If you ask them even what the Korean war was about or the Vietnam war was about, both USA wars, they can't even answer those correctly.
So how in the world can they even begin to understand or think about other wars...

One way or the other- we were going to get sucked into region- especially after the gulf war, and then 8 years of pointless "peace treaties" overseen by Clinton with Israel and the palestinians.
If it hadn't been 9/11- it would have been something else-
I think American's just want to go back to ignoring that part of the world- but it's never going to happen.

realize that most of those countries eventually lost a war,and their country, sure the names might be the same, but the premis upon which they're country first started was quashed.
Rome fell, and the Dark Ages prevailed,They now see the US. as the new Rome and want to tear it down, the part that scares me are those people whom are tearing it down from within, using the freedoms so many others died for them to have, they dont realize,if they ever get there way, they'll lose the tools they had to do it in the first place

well, if you mean the war in Iraq, and the surrounding conflicts (Israel, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc), i think the problem is that their issues have become more and more complicated since the countries in the region were newly divided after WWI, and have gotten even worse every decade since. the USA has had a lot to do with deciding what happens in that region, Saddam's rise to power, using Osama to fight the Russians, almost everthing to do with Israel..... the USA has had a hand in all of it. we pretty much manipulated a lot of those conflicts in the favor of a greater interest, but in the last 6 years or so, its been in the best interest of a handful of rich white guys, other than that, EVERYONE is suffering. we pretty much stuck our hand in the cobra cage, and its amazing it took this long for it to really come to light how bad the bite is.
