Everyday I'm supposed to count how many times the water cooler is used, so my boss is aware of people taking "unnecessary breaks".Weird huh.

A company that I was working for was sold. The new owners came in and took over, using their "big city" ways. The reaction from the public was not positive. The new owners said it was because the employees were "out of touch" with the public. They came up with a new company rule. Each employee had to do some sort of "community service" in their "spare time", write a report on it, and turn it in on a monthly basis. Failure to do so would mean termination.
Apparently I didn't have enough spare time to complete my community service. I was terminated.

You'll probably be able to relate to my answer. I used to be a general assignments reporter and afternoon news anchor for an AM radio station. It was Labor Day and there was absolutely, positively nada going on, and my newscast was coming up. I told the sportscaster, and he said to talk to the local orphanage because they were having a picnic, and get the "mood" of things. How many times can you say the word "balloon" on the radio anyway?

as a temp. at dow chem. they were experimenting with various styrofoams. the product came out of the machine at the rate of about one foot every five minutes. 4 times per shift, a lab guy came and cut off a foot of it for testing. when the slab got to about 8 feet long, i would cut it off and put it in a dumpster. one slab, every 40 minutes. cut off. throw away. i was REALLY good at keeping up with that... lol ! the highlight of my day was dumping the stuff into a compactor. woohoo!

We used to have to deliver city council packets for the city. We thought it was outrageous that cops in uniform and patrol cars would do this crud. So we got one of the guys at work to get us Postal Service pins and wore them on our uniforms when we did it!
It was great, we never got caught, finally email did away with this most humiliating task.

Back in my retail days, I managed the WTTW Store of Knowledge at Water Tower Place. We had about fifty plexi bins full of small inexpensive toys spread throughout the store and corporate sent out a merchandising schematic showing how they wanted the bins laid out. I couldn't help but notice they wanted the magnetic wands right next to the compass keychains. I left a message for my DM stating I had implemented the schematic, with one exception and explained why. I figured it would end there, but she called me the next morning to say she would send my message up through the ranks but in the meantime, she would like me to comply anyway! Picturing dozens of boyscouts lost in the woods, I informed her I would get right on that... just as soon as she convinced the buffoons at corporate to change our name to Store of Ignorance. (Luckily she always appreciated my sense of humor.)
No big surprise that store went out of business. Shame though, really... it was quite a cool store.

As a Stand-In on a tv sit-com, during a rehearsal, I had to enter a restaurant as "an angry mob of people".
Me. All alone. An angry mob of people...
(BTW, I walked in, raised my fist, and all that came out of my mouth was "Grrr!" The producers nearly fell out of their chairs laughing.)
