Niles and salties are your two biggest man-eaters when it comes to crocs.

American crocs have been responsible for one fatality in Florida since records were kept. From what I understand Australian freshies aren't known as killers, nor are Johnston's crocs....

Just a few things to clear up. There are no native alligators in Mexico, there may be caimans, and there are some various crocs, but no alligators.

Also, another factor to take into consideration on reasons for alligator/crocodile attacks is feeding. For some reason people get the silly idea that these animals can't find their own food. 95% of the alligator attacks here in Florida are linked back to feeding. They start associating us with food and lose their fear. I'm not sure if this has been a factor in any other crocodilian attacks, I have a feeling that it wouldn't matter either way with salties and niles... You've got a nile croc, it can take down water buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, whatever it wants... we're kinda slow... no horns or hooves to defend ourselves, they figure people are easy pickings at those large sizes...

Of the known 23 species of crocodiles (Crocodile is a common term comprising crocodiles, caimans, alligators and gharials), only 2 species attack humans without provocation (for food): (1) Salt Water Crocodile (the largest, heaviest, meanest ones) and (2) Nile Crocodile (Only found in Africa - hope you have seen the crocs dragging and killing zebras video)

Others attack only for 1 of the 3 following reasons:
1. Defence of nest site
2. Defence of their young hatchlings
3. On extreme provocation as a defence mechanism.
No Crocodile is dangerous till we keep a good distance.

a stuffed crocodile or a tame one that has been raised from the eggs and hand fed ,this goes for any species
i got my finger stuck in a 8 inch babies mouth and it took another guy with both hands to get my finger back
a got a bigger one that just about takes the food from my hand and lets me walk bare foort right past him with out moving away

a wild crocodile ,aligater ,kaaiman
whatever are all very dangerous and can break you leg with a swipe of their tail
and a regular crocodiles mouth closes with a pressure of 40 pounds
this would snap your leg in half

they kill by twisting the victem around so that his head ends up on the floor and then drag it in the water with the force of their powerfull tail ,and drown it (crocodiles can stay under water for a long time depending on the size)

they can kill a full grown bufalo in minutes ,so a man is nothing for them

near me several fisherman(3 that i know off ) have been killed by Aligators in the last 5 months ,and it must be happening in many other places

they are off the danger list in Guerrero Mexico
and i have seen lagoons banks with hundreds of Aligaters of all sizes .
the most dangerous would be the sea crocodile in Australia ,and the nile crocodile in Africa and
they are especially mean of late because of their shrinking habitats because of dired up rivers and lakes and because of human sttlement and expanding agriculture
the animals that kills the most humans in Africa for these reasons is the Hippo.

there are some pictures in my space,(the big one was a more unusual American crocodile that was lassood by a farmer ,and we resqued it )
the small ones are gators that we confiscated from people who intended raising them for their skin

American Crocodile, in the Everglades.Decidedly less aggressive than the infamous Nile and Australian crocodiles, American crocodiles are rarely seen by people. They eat a variety of crabs, fish, waterfowl, and small mammals.
