(This is a pro-leaning position, I don't claim to really understand what some people seem to find so atrocious about homosexuality)

Almost all Americans will agree that there should be equal rights for all but when it comes differences in sexual orientation, many of those same Americans are unwilling to apply the same standards and give the same rights to homosexuals.

Continue with how gay marriage is generally banned (and how civil unions can imply an inferior relationship not worthy of the name of marriage), discrimination/harrassment based on sexual orientation (Ann Coulter's recent jab calling John Edwards a "f*gg*t" comes to mind), misconceptions about homosexuals (that they "choose" to be gay although they're actually born gay), along with the other negative aspects that people wrongly attribute to homosexuals.

Gay marriage should/should not be legalized because it isn't the governments job to dictate who people fall in love with and denying the full legal rights of marriage based on sexual orientation is immoral and discriminatory, reminiscient of the laws against inter-recial marriages last century /homosexuality is an abnormal behavior that goes against religion, and marriage between a man and a woman is the oldest social contract upon which our emtire society is based.

Personally, I would pick the thesis supporting gay marriage. All arguments against it eventually devolve into "Yeah, but it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!" or "But look at these obscure Scandinavian data!" or "It just grosses me out!" or, "It's a slippery slope! Soon we'll be legalizing pedophilia!" or, my favorite, "We all do have equal rights: The right to marry a member of the opposite sex!"

I would start with the most general statement, homosexuality.Pick up what you find most interesting. The most interesting to me would the nature vs nature theme.Since the causes are not clearly understood I would say that this issue is moot. This means that it has been argued about endless times without resolution. We may never know for sure.Use the I as yours not mine.Due to the short time you have make it as clear as you can using the least words as you can(Occam's Razor)

let's go for the PRO vs. CON approach Or christian approach. yeah??

PRO: for homosexuality
Many supporters of freedom of choice of sexual orientation are fighting for civil rights for same sex unions/marriages-despite the negative conotations homosexuality may have gained prior to 21 century.

CON: against homosexuality
Homosexuality has seemingly been on the rise to gaining recognition and media attention; however, it is still against the grain of many people who are of christian backgrounds.

it's due tomorrow? And you haven't put any thought into the statement?......hmmm. My guess is that you will either ace it or blow it - depending on who's eventually marking it.....good luck!
