As a whole, neither is better. Each gender has its own strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes. So it is not possible to say one is better than the other. Many cultures put a higher value on males, but that is not because of fact, but belief systems. It is a scientifically proven fact that estrogen tends to protect women and contributes to their longer average lifespan. Whereas men tend to have more neural connections in the part of the brain that controls spatial awareness, which is why men tend to be better in those areas. Women have a much higher vocabulary usage than men. This makes them excellent diplomats, teachers, leaders, etc. Many people are the exception for their genders. For example, my sister and I are a good study in opposites. Both of us are heterosexual, but she is much more feminine than I am. She prefers make-up, doing her hair, etc. I prefer sports, science, etc. She wants children; I do not. My husband has often said I missed a good chance to be a man. However, I prefer being female. My sister is built with average female curves. I am built with very minimal curves. Obviously, some sort of genetics plays a part in our choices just as they do in our physical characteristics.
All of us can contribute in ways that makes another's life better or easier. Unfortunately, we tend to let prejudice, popular culture, and tradition interfer with our best.

They are both better suited to different tasks. Obviously then, females are better at tasks they're suited for than males, and males likewise than females!
