Besides sending it in to recover my data, how might one attempt to recover data from Hard Drive?

The hard drive in question is a Maxtor 80 GB. Without warning will not boot! I can see it in "My Computer", and it spins when power is applied.

put it into another pc if it wont boot in yours and use a data recovery program...
