I doubt that. He is encouraging Bellicheck to stay. GMs aren't known for stepping up into head coaching positions. It is possible however but i doubt it. I think Bellicheck is either staying another 3-4 years or until they win another super bowl.

I really don't see Belichick retiring anytime soon. I think if he was going to retire he would've retired in 2005 just after his father died. He's in his mid 50's and I just don't see him leaving the game unless they force him out (I don't see this happening) or he leaves on his own terms. It's been apparent with everything that he's gone through in his personal life that football is his outlet and he still has several good years in him.
And Pioli's offer from the Giants wasn't for coaching, it was to fill the spot of their retiring GM. He was also courted by the Seahawks for a front office job back in 2005, but he declined that interview too. And considering that he oversees things like free agency and contract negotiations, I'd want him with my team too with the success the Patriots have had. I think you might be reading too much into it.

Where did you hear that? I've heard that other teams want Pioli as their GM but not as their head coach. If Belichick does retire I'm pretty sure that an assistant coach will take over so the system he has put into place can continue. Or maybe they'd bring back someone like Charlie Weis? But as Pats fans isn't it scary that Belichick might retire? I mean he is a one of a kind coach and who knows how the next coach might run things.

I do not believe that Bellicheck will retire anytime soon. However, when he does there is a certain coach of the New York Jets who might be interested in coaching the team. We took Bellicheck from the Jets why not Mangini.

Anything is possible. I really dont see Bellicheck retiring too soon , not with our Golden boy still quarterbacking. Definately not until they bring another Superbowl Victory to Gillette Stadium and Foxboro.
He may be holding out until Bellicheck retires but hopefully if he does retire they find someone with the great qualities and great coaching skills Bellicheck has .

Here is Scott Pioli's "coaching" career:
The offensive line coach (1990) and the defensive line coach (1991) at Murray State. (16-17 years ago)
Where do you or he think this is a resume for a head coach in the NFL?
As a GM, OK; but not as a head coach.
Good Luck....

yeah When the day Bellichick does leave the game for Good, I'm sure he'll take over as Head Coach, I know he has the Same Enthusiasm as Belichick does when its happen it won't be until 3 to 4 Years from now.
Let that decision be up to him.
