The problem with your statement is that most Republics do not feel the same. I am on the left and ex-military. I used to feel the way you do.
In the 90s, I voted for Ross Perot in 92 and again in 96 BUT I was appauled when in 98, the Republics refused to stand and some not attend during Clinton's state of the Union speech.
I'm saying... you reap what you soe. I learned by example...

The same can be said for the majority of conservative opinion on YA.
As per the other stuff, people are allowed to feel however one wants regarding the president. Although I respect the office of President, I feel that Bush has disgraced the oath of office that he took and so I do harbor negative feelings toward him. My parents were not hippies, my entire family has served the US gov't in both the military and Peace Corps and yet we all feel negatively about the current President and we have the right to.
As per the President being capitalized there are two reasons. One, typing on the internet is not considered the same as formal writing for all people, two, for some people it is a sign of disrespect because of whatever reason they may feel.
It is a person's right to feel any way they want about a president.

Our President has lied to the American people, Congress and the entire world and continues to do so. The War and Occupation of Iraq is a farce, he has listened to no one and continues with total incompetence and abandon. The illegal spying and information gathering continues on American citizens. The 4th amendment has been nullified, when the Writ of Habeas Corpus can be suspended at will through the use of the Patriot Act, the very cornerstone of our country has been violated - The Constitution. I agree with this quote by Benjamin Franklin, "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Benjamin Franklin (1706 - 1790) -- President Bush does not have my support nor my respect.

If you want my respect, you need to EARN it.
Bush has done nothing in his miserable life that has inspired me to respect him, and I don't care if he's the friggin president, the pope or sitting on the right hand of god.
funny, I wonder if you showed the respect you want for Bush to Bill Clinton. What the right did to him was without a doubt, the most disrespectful thing in our nations history.

The office of President does deserve respect, and we as Americans need to respect that office. also, the man placed in that office needs to respect it as well. GWB has defiled it and it is for that reason I cannot respect the man; no more than I could respect Clinton when he defiled the prestige of that office. When a person takes that office he is granted the respect of the post, however, it is up to the individual, by their choices and deeds, to keep that respect or cast it aside.

I give respect where it is deserved. George Bush has not earned my respect. How many more lost lives will justify his mistake? Don't tell me I am unAmerican, I care more about this country and the lives of our troops than you will ever know. Your posts have been nothing but attacks on Liberals and are not valid questions nor do you offer real solutions. Maybe you are the one who is showing a lack of intelligence.

You must know a lot about me.
Anyways, I was taught that it is patriotic to disagree strongly with bad policy. How do you suggest we show disagreement? By saluting the man in office? What bothers me is the people who cannot fathom the damage the current resident is doing to our country, on multiple facets.
Capitalization? I'm happy if people can spell straight. One fellow like you came out with a question asking why liberals had horiable spelling. Give me a break.
I don't feel compelled to respect the president when he has treated the U.S. Constitution with such disrespect.

What I don't understand is why liberals feel the need to be so concerned about the troops? When I joined the Army I was fully aware and made a "CHOICE"(thats somthing libs should understand) to die in a war if the Commander in Chief so chooses. What don't you understand about that libs? You can't be that incapable of simple logic and reasoning? Can you?

Respect is earned, not demanded or granted with an office. When I use a lower case bush, I do it intentionally to show my lack of respect for that idiot you elected.
