Well, just looking at the general public, you can see that where you live does indeed affect what clothes you wear. Society and weather, most times will dictate or rather say direct this measure and design; however, where you live, the specific style in the area will differ. Let's take the average day Wal-Mart, the style and design selling in California may not sell on the east coast. And companies know this, which is why you will see a large difference in style city to city. Socioeconomic levels in areas will also most definitely affect what people are wearing. Then the story will change globally.

Eskimos dress quite warmly. Jamacans wear shorts and light loose shirts. Native Amazon jungle dwellers wear just a loin cloth. Desert dwellers wear sheet like covers to keep the sun and sand out. American kids dress dumbly for looks, not practicality.

Well if it's cold all the time your not going to wear shorts and a tank top. Likewise if it's hot all the time your not going to own a winter jacket.

some cities are bigger than others, resulting in more exposure of fashionable stores that hold hipper clothing...people who buy from those stores influence other people living in those cities to follow trends, resulting in certain cities being more fashionable and other hicky cities being pretty lame dressers...and of course, climate being the most important

I livein a very very yuppie place so I guess I try to dress sort of classic. Not always main stream or anything, but I can at least get by on my limited budget.

Well... -I don't think you'd wear shorts & a t-shirt in Fairbanks, Alaska in January, or a parka and boots in Miami, Florida in July- do you? :)
