Save the rat! and keep as pet .Rats are grate pets . It is all right to feed milk but I don't know about crackers.
Ps. if the baby refuses to eat make him or her eat a tiny bit.

The snake may just not be hungry. Or simply be waiting to eat. I don't know that much about snakes but i think its ok if he hasn't eaten the baby yet. ( and i know how you feel about it being hard but its natural :)

also, yeah just don't give him salted foods since there bad for him but bits of carrot and cherios are good. wether he's a rat or a mouse wont make too much of a diference, they have a very similar diet. but, you should be able to tell by his size, a full grow mouse will be about the size of a weanling rat. so if you know for sure he is a baby and is still pretty big then its probably a rat or gerbil. (gerbils have fur onthere tail)

good luck, and talk to your pet store, they may be able to help you.

If you have cereal like cheerios, rice crispies, etc, this would be fine for the rodent. You could also give it small bits of cheese and veggies. If the crackers are coated with salt, I wouldn't offer them because the rat/mouse will probably become dehydrated very quickly. Something that I often feed my hamster pups is bits bits of bread soaked in warm milk (regular milk).

Good luck, I hope that helped.

it somewhat is relatively fantastically no longer likely which you will get a ailment from a wild rat or mouse, they're viewed extremely clean that way. purely be certain you clean the wound and take care of it with neosporin or something and additionally you need to be o.k.. needless to say it may be extra desirable to get it checked via a physician as a precautionary degree, yet once you do no longer i do no longer think of you will get any poor ailments. it somewhat is somewhat uncommon for those animals to have rabies.
