KeePass database files are encrypted. KeePass encrypts the whole database, i.e. not only your passwords. Your user names, notes, even the entry times and UUIDs, etc. are encrypted, too.
I tried Keepass Password Safe. I did not like it. It has plugins to allow sort of integrate (communicate) to for Firefox and Internet Explorer. The plugins carry the following warning:
Warning., The plugins offered on this page are developed by different, independent authors. The KeePass team cannot check all plugins for bugs and/or malicious code and/or spyware before they are distributed here. Therefore, plugins need to be seen as possible security risk/hole and it's up to you if you trust the plugin developers or not.
You would be nuts to use the plugins with your financial data.

Password Safe is a password database utility. Users can keep their passwords securely encrypted on their computers. A single Safe Combination unlocks them all.
I did not like it. A lot of work to use. No integration with Firefox or Internet Explorer. There is an "Autotype" feature, you highlight the password entry in Password Safe, press "perform autotype button" or left click on password entry then click on "perform autotype" to add password and username in the next closest window.
You have to enter the site description, username and password , internet page location, and the autotype field.
Autotype Field: Place below in autotype field to insert username, password, and press enter on next closest window when "perform autotype" request is made in Password Safe .
\p\t\p\t\n
\u is replaced by the username associated with the entry.
\p is replaced by the password associated with the entry.
\t is replaced by the Tab key, in effect skipping a field.
\n is replaced by the enter key, in effect pressing a button.
\\ is replaced by the backslash (\) key.
\dNNN sets the delay between characters to NNN milliseconds, instead of 10 (the default).
