To answer your question, it is a passion for socer that leads to so many great players, like young boys are passionate about football. The only difference is that in soccer they have a lot more choices of where to go play, and for the most part money speaks louder so many of the top players leave the country.
But let's put things in perspective...
3 out of 4 finalists - and the two winners - in the two FIFA Club World Championships (2000 and 2005) have been Brazilian clubs. The FIFA Club World Cup in 2006 was also
won by a Brazilian club.
Out of the 27 winners of the various championships that have been played, 6 are teams from Brasil...tied only
with Argentina. Not to include all the times a Brazilian team has been runner ups.
So they do not have any top players like the European teams do. Most Brazilian leagues are composed entirely of Brazilian players, as opposed to English, Spanish and Italian leagues that use players from all over and guess what?
They STILL beat top teams like Liverpool and Barcelona in the finals, not to mention the other leagues they beat along the way.
I don't consider that to be weak.

First off, I wouldn't say their League is weak. Internacional de Porto Alegre is the current World Champion, a trophy that has been won more often by brazilian/argentinian teams than europeans.
No, answering your question; you have a country of 150 million people, all mad about football, children playing it in the streets, in the grounds, in the beaches, everywhere at a very early age, living in a country that idolizes Pele, Careca, Rivelinho, Jair, and so on, a country that has a long an amazing football history and tradition, 5 times World Champion, and great coaches, and... errr , so, What was you question?????

Their leagues aren't weak. Have you noticed that Sao Paulo and Internacional won the Club World Cup in Japan the past 2 years.
They produce good players because as kids they play on the streets and they learn from there and when they get into clubs, the coaching of the clubs improves them and when a player becomes good, European teams buy them. And the coaching of the European teams makes them better because the European teams have a lot of money the helps to improve them

The Brazilian leagues can't afford to pay as much money to their top players as the European clubs can so that's why you don't see many of them playing in Brazil.

It just seems to be that due to their poor economic situation, football seems to be the only means for many brasileiros to get out of poverty. Look at the majority of the greats, most of them came from very humble origins, so they dedicate the most of their time playing and practicing football in order to make a better life for themselves.

Their leagues are weak not through poor talent but through a poor economy.
