Just as many "Mad Scientist" films as there are about vampires, witches, werewolves or demons?

I think people are scared of what they don't understand or can't control. Both science and the supernatural can be perceived that way.

The world seems to be divided by people of either polar extreme. the ones who believe science explains all, and hold no beliefs in the supernatural, and those who believe the supernatural or religious aspects of life rule the world and shun most of sciences explanations (such as evolution), both topics can be used to scary effect and are probably equally made to appeal to all people.
