I breastfeed my 6 and a half month old, and give him a little baby food here and there but he's getting 2 more teeth on the top and barely nurses or eats AT ALL except in the morning lately, I'm afraid he's going to starve or that I'm going to stop making enough milk do you think he's okay? Is it normal for babies to have less of an appetite when they are teething? He hasn't really been too fussy, and no fever just chewing on everything so I dont know..

I just went in for my child's 6-month check-up, and she told me that now that they are starting to eat more food, it is likely for them to slow down on bottle or nurse feedings. They shouldn't slow down severely; however, they will a little. Which makes sense, cause they're filling up their belly with other foods. I guess just make sure they do not become dehydrated is important. \(*o*)/

I too have a 6 and half month old son,he got his 2 bottom teeth at 5 and half months and now the 2 top are coming in!!He too barely eats!!He is on formula(highly allergic to dairy and soy and has a heart defect so could not breast feed but I did pump for 5 months). He may have 15 to 20 oz max in a day and as for solids he is getting more fussy. He too only has solids here and there, all depends if he feels like it!!LOL!Remember baby's will never starve themselves and your body will not stop making milk.So I would say this is very normal,I freaked out when my sons first teeth started to come is as well but all in all I would say this all sounds very normal

Yes it is normal for the appetite to decrease noticably, or for nursing to increase dramatically while teething

As long as he is making about as many wet diapers as he was before he is getting enough. Also if the urine is pale he is fine. If you are *really* concerned. Weigh all your diapers on a kitche scale (subtract the weight of a dry diaper and the bag/container you put the diaper in so you don't get ick on your scale). What goes in more or less must come out. If he is outputting between more than 20oz he is fine.

Edited to add:
Solid food should compliment not replace breastmilk until after 1 year.

Should solids replace breastmilk?
No. Solids during the first year are only meant to complement breastmilk, not take precedence over it or replace any breastfeedings. It is more of a way to add textures to the baby's diet, to allow the baby new experiences, and to help her develop hand/eye coordination through finger feeding. Your baby should still be allowed to nurse on demand, as your milk should be her primary source of nutrition until closer to the end of the first year. Continuing to allow on-demand feedings also better ensures your milk supply.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it, unless he stops eating completely. Adults don't always feel like eating when were sick. I'm sure its just because he's teething, just watch to see if he shows any sings of fever and make sure he doesn't dehydrate.
