I maybe that your laptop is running many processes at the same time. There can be many reasons why your laptop heats up quickly, like a problem on your motherboared. If you are still under warranty, I would send it in.

actually all laptops get pretty hot underneath. I have a powerbook G4, nothing wrong with it, and it gets very hot. Be careful so you don't melt down your family jewels, so put something under it like a book, or one of those special platforms with the fans on them.

It's NORMAL. They generate a lot of heat. Don't sit for too long with a laptop in your lap....you can...burn things. Wouldn't be fun.
Apparently you can get laptop fans that sit under your laptop on your desk....and apparently Circuit City sells them.

what type of surface do you have the laptop on and does it allow air to run underneath it. a laptop should be on a flat level surface that does not have cloth on it. i.e. your lap is not a good place to rest your laptop.

most laptops have a fan not powerfull enough to cool itself(due to space, in laptops there is alot of hardware that must be minimized and/or removed) so its not likely that there is something wrong with your fan.
