With my first pregnancy I didn't know I was in labor and can't remember how my labor really felt like and I had my baby all natural. But I'm guessing that you are in labor. I didn't go to the hospital until after I took a nice hot shower and when I got there I was having pains 3 min apart and they lasted for a couple of seconds. I had my baby 5 hours later. You might want to wait. Sleep it off if you can. Now its my second and I'm also 38 wks pregnant and 4 cm dilated!

Call L&D. I went in when I was having contractions every 4 minutes, and I live 30 minutes from the hospital with a husband that drives the speed limit. It was a long trip! But as soon as I got to the hospital my baby came about 4 1/2 hours later. Better to be safe than sorry!

Go to the hospital asap and get that checked out. And if you ever have any pains or problems in the future that your doctor hasn't brought up or anything that seems out of the ordinary just go to pro to make sure every thing's fine. This late in pregnancy you want to take every precausion you can to eradicate problems that could hurt you or your child. Good luck and I hope everything turn out well for you both.

Call the hospital and ask to speak to one of the nurses. Chances are they will tell you to come down, but by the sounds of it, and the fact they are coming at regular intervals, you might be in labor :)
I got my labor pains in my back and they felt like period pains. Hope you are :) Good luck and enjoy :)

it is possible. there is also false labor pains that women get but hte best thing to do would be just to go to the hospital to be on the safe side. they will be able to tell you if its false labor pains or the reall deal. good luck and congratultions. i hope everything goes well.

i would call and talk to an OB nurse at labor and delivery....usualy unless you live far away from the hospital they tell you when they are 5 mins apart or your water breaks as long as you are past 36 weeks.

If they're getting closer together, then you should wait until they are about 5-7 min apart consistently for one hour, and then get your butt to the hospital. Labor pains are different for every woman, so it's just better to get checked.

11 minutes apart is still a bit far to head immediately to the hospital. Start timing them accurately (from the start of one to the start of the next) to verify that they are regular and getting closer together. Drink a bunch of water (if they're only Braxton Hicks they will be calmed by water). Give L&D a call so that they'll know to expect you if they continue. Happy pushing!!!

call labor and delivery first, then call your doctor to see what he thinks but it is better to be safe and go on and make that trip to the hospital
