Hi!
My cousin is getting confirmed at her church and she told me on the phone yesterday that lots of girls are talking about the dress they're getting for confirmation. A dress?? Sounds like fun, but neither of us thought that people would buy a dress for confirmation.
Has anyone ever heard of this? (My cousin is presbyterian, by the way). If you have, what kind of dress do you think is best (a sundress, ect...)? Any links to good dresses out there for my cousin's confirmation??
Thank You!

Back in the day, we wore dresses or skirts for Confirmation w/ white robes over them. Even though we had to wear robes during the ceremony, it was nice to dress up a bit.

These days, I'd pick something cute for spring or summer and wear a jacket or sweater over it to conform to the dress requirements for church if you are not wearing a robe. That way, you can wear the dress later & not be too conservative or young. The sweater can be a soft beige or pastel and you can wear it with other things.

Wrap dresses are a good option too. If you get one w/ sleeves in white or a light color, you'll have a style that's "in" this season.

If you are wearing a robe, then consider getting a white or print skirt with matching top that you can mix and match with other things in your wardrobe.

www.oldnavy.com has some very pretty white dresses and other things that would be appropriate.

Confirmation Dress

I'm getting confirmed too and my sister just did about a couple years ago so I've been through a confirmation ceremony.

Well first of all it's not abnormal to wear a dress. Most occasions where people are being confirmed it is a formal event so it's not abnormal to buy a dress for confirmation.

It really depends on your church or the atmosphere of the ceremony when you're picking your dress. You may want to go with a dress that's a little more formal (not a gown or anything that you'd wear for winter formal, but something less springy such as a sundress) if you're church is somewhat fancier like mine is and more formal rather than casual. Your church may be a more casual one though where a sundress would be fine but most of the time I wouldn't suggest it.

If you're really not sure then just ask all of these girls that are talking about dresses and see if they're going the same way as you are about your dress.

Hope I helped :]

I wouldn't wear a sundress, but a dress that is more formal, something with short sleeves is fine.Sundresses are more casual. The majority of girls who receive Confirmation wear dresses. I'm sure your cousin can find a dress in almost any store, It all depends on what stores are in your area. Some stores sell only dresses.

I'm methodist and we all had confirmation dresses ... white or offwhite seems to be the acceptable colors plus its fun for the younger girls to get an occasion to dress up and celebrate!

I was confirmed at age 14 and in the eighth grade. We had to wear the same all white poofy dress and veil with tights and white mary jane shoes that we did for our first holy communion..Instead of the cloth diaper and plastic pants that we had to wear under our communion tights,we had to wear just the plastic pants under our confirmation tights.
