105 years of tradition creates a loyal following. I personally try to buy American whenever possible.
Anyone who has ever ridden a Harley knows they have a unique feel ,a 6-700 lb. bike that handles almost effortlessly and a ton of torque .
The fact that there is a huge amount of after market accessories available makes them a fun bike to customize, the options are almost endless.
Harley's come in all shapes and sizes ,from the 883 to a Road King with a with a big inch kit, so there is a Harley for every one.
Further ,bikes shows, poker runs and events like Sturgis ,Laughlin, Hollister, Daytona, The Redwood Run ,4 Corners etc. etc. make for endless activities beyond just going for a ride.
These may not make Harley the "Rolls Royce" of motorcycles ,but it's what I like about them and I assume a big part of their popularity.

Harley Davidson and Rolls Royce, what a complimentary pair.
From flowing lines to other things.
A long time ago, I heard a story of a man who wanted to travel the world. Money being no object, he chose a Rolls Royce. The stated reason was that it was the only automobile at the time that he could get service for all over the world.
Other than Harley Davidson, can you name any other company that enjoys the same reputation?

Harleys have now become over priced piece of sh*ts made for yuppies. Every single person I see riding a harley has something to prove. You can't really do anything with these bikes. They are horrible in the twisties, have week top ends and you can't take them offroad. The reall bike enthusiast will ride a sportbike or dual sport. What made harley's popular were the hell's angels and the movie born to be wild. When you buy a motorcycle then drive it 10 minutes to the local starbucks and talk about all the upgrades you've done to it for 3 hours consider yourself a harley owner.

I never thought I would see Harley Davidon and Rolls Royce in the same question/sentence. It is like comparing a lemon to filet mignon.

A legend in their own minds!!! 2 words Hondas and Ducatis rule..(for me anyways cause I have them) but I would never spend $45,000 just so I can stand around kicking tires with other Harley riders and talk about how much money I've spent. Imagine buying a car that way. Spend $30,000 on the frame and then have to buy everything else extra. I have a blast riding my Shadow Ace and my Duke/Monster and I laugh all the way to the bank. Oh, yes, I also don't have to spend mega bucks to buy the "costume" to look like a bandida-weekend warrior.

So many people who would never own a motorcycle hate motorcycles because of loud *** Harley's. They would fall into the rolls royce class only out of need for repair.....

Maybe its the goofy costumes people feel they need to wear when riding one. Or the antiquated technology and ridiculously low power to weight ratio. Could also be the inflated price tag and high foreign part content (40%+). Then again there's also the requirement to spend an additional $2,000 on loud pipes and a new cam the day after you buy it.

I love you guys!
Almost every one of you summed up my hatred of HD's. Over-priced, dinosaur technology, pieces of sh*t. The only thing that's made HD such a well known name is marketing. Period.
Oh, to the person who said they always try to buy American. Do you know how many HD parts are manufactured in Japan????

Harley is not just a brand or a motorcycle, but it is a way of life.
It's like the Mods and their Vespas.

thy're the rolls royce to people who like harleys but if you like japanese/italian sport bikes they're not. I happen to be a huge motocross fan so harley isn't even a player in that field.
