how do you remove wax that has dripped on a compact disc?

If it's candle wax, find a thin plastic flat sided edge and just go underneath it and around it until it lifts off and with a dust felt cloth, buff out the residue in circular motions.

That's not a bad idea. Yet it really depends on which side of the CD the wax fell. If it was on the printed side, be very careful. This is the side that matters. Scratch it even the slightest and you've created a coaster.
