When I had my first daughter, I stressed about her not wanting to eat baby foods, then I read an article that helped me a lot. I don't remember where it is now but I remember what it said. It takes babies several times to get used to different tastes and textures so don't force them to eat it but offer a bite once or twice during a few feedings a day, eventually the baby will be used to the texture. This helps with getting babies open to a variety of foods. I would also continue feeding him what he likes and also begin offering some easy to eat table foods. Good luck!

Have you smelled the baby food? It smells like something that should be buried, not eaten. Try giving him some simple table foods. I started my 3 kids at about 3 months with table foods. Bananas are the best, but can be messy. If you want him to eat solid foods try making him some spaghetti and cutting it up really well. Introduce one food at a time and only that food for 2-3 days so if he has an allergy, you'll know what it is. Fruit is usually the best to start out with and some veggies. If you have a steamer, make your own baby food, it is much cheaper. Just steam veggies and put them in the bleander. He'll probably like them more because they actually smell good.

He is only 9 months and alot of babies are texture sensitive or maybe he just doesn't like it. My advice would be to hold off on what he doesn't like for a couple of weeks or so and once you start back offer him 2-3 bites at a time and don't push it. Over time he will probably eat it. It just may take a while and if he never eats those certain baby foods it will not hurt him. Just continue to offer him only healthy foods. I would not go to table food. His system is not ready for that. Once they taste the table food they dont want to go back and the baby food has no salt and is strained so you get get them to eat a better variety of veggies without worrying about textures and choking.

My daughter would eat everything when I gave her regular baby food and only some of that chunky stuff too ! She wouldn't even eat the mac and cheese which I thought would be one of her favorites . { It is now , but she's 10 years old.} So I tried it and it was thick and nasty. So from then on ,NO expensive, nasty , slimy ,chunky, baby food.A good food to give baby other than ground up real table food is instant oatmeal!!! There are so many flavors to choose from I'm sure he will like something.Buy a variety pack ! I also sometimes mixed applesauce with it. They get more fruit and it helps make it a little thinner so they are less likely to choke on it.It also cools it down faster, cause you put it in after it's done not in the bowl with the dry oatmeal and milk before microwaving. Make sure you use milk { or formula } not water. It is more nutritous and tasts creamier. The little girl I used to babysit loved it too ! Good for yourself also.{ except the formula , that would probally be yucky for grown-ups} .

I had a hard time getting my daughter to eat. She is now 18 months old and eating great. She just took a little longer. She never really liked any of the stage 3 foods. Maybe it is the texture more than the taste. We all together skipped them. We started feeding her mashed potatos, smushed veggies off of our plates, etc. I wouldn't stress. I did stress, and it did nothing but make the situation worse. He will eat when he is ready. Just keep with the stage 2's. Good luck!!

I have 3 sons and went thru this with all of them. They didn't like the texture, I would end up puree the stage 3 food. When they were 10 months they would eat rice and pasta etc. themselves with their hands, but not if it was on a spoon from me. I would also add one of his favorite veggies to the meat and rice ones, he loved squash so i would mix it in and then he would eat it!

I agree with the first answer, just skip the third stage and go to regular foods. They are cheaper and easier to add to your own family meal . Any veggie mashed would be great along with small pieces of chopped meat, i.e , grilled chicken, and turkey. Just not hot dogs or fish.

im thinking he probably doesnt like them...mabey he is teething more and chewing the chunks is hurting his gums? wait another month only give him the stage 3s feeding him mostly stage 2s and gradually put him on stage 3s completely......im thinking thats your only option...it goes along with the old saying you can lead the horse to the water but you cant make him drink =)

My daughter never liked stage 3 baby foods, so at 9 months I started giving her table foods, chopped very small. She liked it, and it was healthier.

Do you still have him on formula? or breast milk? If so, that is great. dont worry about pushing the baby food issue... as long as he is eating some of it dont worry about it. He is old enough to determine what he likes and doesnt like... as long as he is still getting the vitamins from the formula/breast milk, youre doing good...
