Probably not... because if there isn't a medical need then your insurance won't pay for it. If your blood pressure starts to go haywire then you may have another one, but don't count on it.

Babies are fully formed little people by the middle of the pregnancy (in a much more miniature form), so if there were abnormalities they would have spotted them then. The last half of the pregnancy their little bodies are just maturing and getting larger, but all the "parts" are there beforehand. If something were wrong, they'd have found it.

I had a total of 3 ultrasounds (so far) in my pregnancy. I had one because i was having cramping towards the very beginning and they wanted to make sure everything was alright. I had my other one at the normal time that they do them..about 16 weeks pregnant. Everything was normal then so i was told i wouldn't need another one but then i had a "water break" scare and they did one in the hospital. They will really only do another ultrasound if you are having problems with your pregnancy. Otherwise they will just assume that everything is progressing well if it was alright at your 17 week ultrasound. If you are feeling like there is something wrong then you should definetly say something again to your doctor. If he again just says that you don't need one then go to the hospital and tell them what you are experiencing. They will usually do whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable and you yourself know your body better than anyone else. If YOU feel that something isn't right, then listen to your body. It won't lie to you..i promise! Good luck!!!

They usually won't do an ultrasound in the 3rd trimester unless you are at higher risk that something might go wrong, in some cases they might do one if request it (if you have a nice enough doctor). If there were any abnormalities, they more than likely would have been picked up at your 17 week scan. If you are really concern try and get your doctor to refer you for one. If they won't do it, maybe go to another doctor who will be more accommodating to your wishes and any concerns you may have.

I had an ultrasound in my 3rd trimester and was told by the doctor the only reason they were doing it was because I am diabetic.

It sounds like you had your abnormality scan a little early, but unless you have problems such as low lying placenta, or you are measuring small, there is no need for a scan in the third trimester.
The reason they do the abnormality scan at around 20 weeks is so that people still have time to decide whether to go ahead with the pregnancy if there are serious problems. In the third trimester, that option is not there, so not much point in scanning.

usually you wouldn't get another ultrasound now - most likely the next time you see your baby will be in the flesh!
the only time you would get an ultrasound after your last one would be in case of problems, so be glad there habven't been any!
If you do feel bad, or worried, check with your dr or midwife though.
You could always book a private scan if you just want to see it again!

I got two unltrasounds but only because I had placenta previa. I think most insurances only pay for one unless theres a reason for a second. Most doctors now offer the 3D/4D unltrasound. I had that done at 29 weeks but it cost me $120 for a 30 minute session. If it is available and you can afford it, then I highly recommend having it done. You would really enjoy seeing your baby perfectly clear and it would reassure your fears that something is wrong. Good luck!!

With my first baby, I only had one ultrasound, also. I only had 2 with my second baby because my first was so big, they were monitoring her size to be sure that my second wasn't too big. If you feel like your dates are off, you should request an ultrasound from your doc. If he doesn't want to schedule you for one, you should be demanding about it. You know your body better than anyone, so your doctor should trust what you are feeling.

could go see a different doc, but your current one may just be thinkin that every1 has different experiences. n u kno, the more u read 'in this week u suld feel like this'...the less likely u will!! i'm 32 weeks now, n meant 2 b nakered, n blah blah blah. the only thing thats nakering me is when my baby won't stop moving when i lay down to sleep!!!
i first had braxton hicks at 15 weeks. LOADS earlier than ur meant 2 n i was determind i was in labour n cryin me eyes out sayn the baby won't live if shes born now, etc...so dnt worry to much if ur experiencing this ealier than books n other ppl tell u u should, every1's different. if ur REALLY worried tlk 2 ur midwife or a different doctor. but normally u dnt get another scan after the 20 week one. my 20 week scan were at 21 and 23 weeks! (just b4 xmas, n she wouldn't let them see her spine, so we went bk after Xmas n she flashed us her neather regions...n THEN saw her spine) so dnt worry that urs weren;t exactly 20 weeks k?

You shouldn't need another ultrasound but if you feel that you need one then pay for it yourself.
Too many unnecessary ultrasounds may be harmful to your baby. There are some studies that have been done that suggest developmental and brain problems could be attributed to over exposure to ultrasound waves.

You dont need any ultasound, what u re feeling now is normal at this stage.
u have this deep rooted fear of if something goes wrong, what if the baby is abnormal?what if i go into labour early ,and many other similar questions
My advice to you is to relax and thnk positive, believe in ur doc and believe in urself too.altimately believe in God,everything that He makes is perfect, begin to have positive thought and chase all negaive thought away, dont even dwell on them at all, anytime u feel lonely ,try visiting friends or shopping to keep u alive, there is power in positive thinking, try it and see.Good luck.
