Teachers are creative up to a point. Students are sometimes too lazy to put in their two bits worth of effort and expect the teacher to somehow drill the lesson into their grey matter. Students who are just as enthusiastic as wilted lettuce do not stimulate teachers either. English is knowing about your language and the culture that made it what it is, but reading is now and has been since the incept of the cyberage, soooo boring. Reading will give you vocabulary, grammar, syntax and proper usage in massive doses, reading Sci Fi will double that since it has double the vocabulary of other popular genres. Why do you expect the teacher to do all the work?

Well I have a daughter who is an English professor and I think she is a pretty creative teacher. She teaches "dumbbell" English....for those who have to catch up to level. One of the things she does is assigns papers to write on an issue...and in the process makes them think thru the issue involved, do research on it....in other words she makes them think it through.
The English comes in when they write the paper and have to punctuate it, etc. Some students are totally surprised when they find out they don't know their English well at all...had no idea what they needed to learn.

She also sings...so she does a performance for them on the last day of school...just for fun.

I would find creative ways to use English for practice...maybe in conversations in class, putting on a play, etc.

i would expect the teacher to expect me to be creative,,,,,,,and to encourage me to think,,,, reflect on topics,,,, and really demand that i put some of myself into it,,,,, the basic formats of english , whether grammer or essay writing,,, are pretty straight forward and not creative at all,, its what the individual student brings to the writing, that stands out
