I'd like to become ACE certified on Photoshop... I don't have any formal education in it, i'm entirely self taught... but there isn't anything I can think of that I don't know how to do in CS3, so I'm wondering if I am eligible for the exam and if it's a good thing to spend the money on.

I am considering of taking that exam myself. You don't need formal education, but using toolbox on a proficient level is not enough either (in my opinion anyways). You have to know how to do multiple choice, word exam. That's the stupid part. So you actually have to know the theoretical part f photoshop.

NOW, I don't know if it's all you need to know, but I would suggest reading Photoshop CS2 Classroom in a Book (since it explains things in detail). Go ahead and get it from our local library (you don't need to actually buy it)

Also, you cannot get a certification in CS3 just now, since the software is not even out yet! They are just planning it this spring :)

No formal education required (no education required at all). Simply pay for and take the test. You pass, you're certified. No idea if customers/employers care if your certified or not. Most care about your portfolio and your business conduct more than certifications.
