You have to be joking.

Bucknell is in the Patriot League with the likes of:

American
Army
Colgate
Holy Cross
Lafayette
Lehigh
Navy

And did not play any top ranked teams.

As we know in the NCAA tourney selections, record isn't everything.

1. Patriot League doesn't receive the votes.
2. Six games....yes, six games versus Army and Navy.
3. Quality win against Xavier, but loss to Central Arkansas stands out. They were 6th in the Southland Conference and finished season 10-20.

I do have to admit that Bucknell performed well against power conference teams this year...but they needed to beat Penn State and Wake or St. Joe's for a chance.

Duke, well they should be there. I am not a Duke fan (like not being a Yankees fan) but the conference they live in is not the Pat League. Purdue is in, Illinois is in....yes, Duke should be in then too.

Weber St.? They won their automatic bid. Big Sky Tourney Champs.

Niagara....MAAC Tourney Champs. Auto, auto, auto.

Because the Patriot League's never been strong enough for an at-large bid. I am a little surprised they didn't make the NIT, either, but they really didn't play any tough games. A strong won/lost record is not enough to get an at-large bid; you need strength of schedule to go with it. For instance, Davidson finished 29-4, a gawdy won/lost record, but wound up a 13 seed in the tournament, which means they would not have gotten an at-large if they had lost their conference tournament. And Niagara and Weber St. both won their conference tournaments, but they too would be out if they hadn't.

Good point. Holy Cross lost to Bucknell in the Patriot League final 2 years ago and then won the first round of the NIT against Notre Dame.... in South Bend.

The Patriot League has matched up very well in the first round of the NCAAs since 2001. Holy Cross almost won each of its 3 games and Bucknell won their 1st round games, two years in a row.

Because they didn't want to have them beat KU two years in a row?

well, it really depends on who is in their conference and when they lost in their conference.
