What is better? Ribbon Transfer, InkJet (Color & Monochrome), or B & W (Monochrome) Laser? What would you suggset for a small office where you don't use it often, but about 10-15 times per month

Printer - Obviously Laser printer unless you need color prints.
Initially inkjet may be cheaper but in long run you would find inkjets are more of pain rather than convenience.

Then I recommend to buy scanner, printer and fax separately. The reason is Scanner part of the MFD (Multi Function Device) is being used very less. The printer part is being used very high. The printer part would reach end of life in one or two years. The scanner part would work for 10 years. And also we are using less and lesser FAX day by day. After scanning the document from windows XP you can send FAX.

I would go with a laser just for the cost effectiveness, even if you don't use it often. Inkjets can be expensive ink hogs, and if you're not using it regularly the nozzles can clog etc. Thermal is a pain if you want to keep faxes for a while, the paper curls up and the printed output usually fades over time.

Buy a Brother Multifunction Center, specifically a MFC-3360C. They only cost about $100.00 and can often be found on sale at certain stores (We got ours for $79.00). It's inexpensive and great for a small to medium sized business / office. It has a fax modem, B&W color copying and scanning capabilities as well as a corded phone headset. We've had one for a while and have never had any issues with it. Additionally, you can often get the repacement ink cartridges on ebay pretty cheap compared to Dell, HP and Lexmark.
Take care.

I would go with the B & W laser. You don't need color for faxing, because there is no standard for transferring a color fax across a phone line, and most machines don't support it. Unless you need to make color copies frequently, the laser will have less maintenance, and will be less bothersome, because toner can't dry up from lack of use like ink can.

Ink Jet -- probably cheapest too. Check out HP 5610 at Walmart.com.
