It depends on none of the above. It depends on your roster. Do you need a risky closer ( you are not deep in that area) or do you need a number #4 starter ( you are not deep in that area) more?

Well this all depends which brad lidge pitches this year and also depends on another brewer Derrick Turnbow. Being a diehard brewers fan myself and also paying attention to pretty much anything baseball related in the minors and majors I feel i can answer this with some good knowledge. As of right now i think the brewers are getting by far the short end of the stick here dave bush had one of the WHIPs for a starting pitcher in the mlb his era did not really reflect how well he pitched. If you look at his home and road era's you'll see that he apsolutely dominated at miller park but would get roughed up on the road. I think with his WHIP and with his control he is going to suprise a lot of people this year, the best part is that a pitcher of his caliber is going to be the #4 pitcher in our rotation an when he could be a good #3 and an ok #2 starting pitcher. My final point is that lidge had an off year last year and im confindent that he will bounce back in a big way but remember Derrick Turnbow also did and is also probably going to turn it around granted he isnt Brad Lidge but he is one amazing reliever when he is on. If this trade happened the brewers would lose a good starter and gain a great reliever which would leave them with three closer quailty relievers in Brad Lidge, Derrick Turnbow, and Francisco Corderro. Overall i would say the Astros would win this trade but grant were in the same division no chance of it happening.

Hold on to Lidge...
He's going to be good this year, better than Bush
Lidge isn't the only pitcher that had an off year, and if you look at them you'll notice that some of them that dropped off the most happened to play in the World Baseball Classic
Like Jake Peavy for instance
Lidge has got his mind set back and has made some mechanical changes and will have a great season

Brad Lidge is unquestionably the greater useful participant in this deal - Closers are very stressful to locate and if he can bypass back to the way he pitched 2 seasons in the past he would be a thieve... don't get me incorrect, Dave Bush is nice - yet commencing pitchers are a dime a dozen and good ones constantly replace into the season progresses (i.e. - Liriano, Verlander, Cain, Hamels, etc. from final twelve months)

depends on 2 things...1) is Lidge gonna return to form and dominate people or will he implode and be worthless again 2) is Bush going to improve on last year and keep fulfilling his potential
as of this moment, id rather have lidge based on previous performance and you can always pick up another SP with Bush's statline (12-13 Wins, 3.00+ ERA, 150+ K's)...closers are harder to find

Bush, assuming this is not a huge league in which every closer is taken. Generally, closers are a dime a dozen, and anyone can find one on the waiver wire who will pick up 30 saves on the season.
Bush is young, has an amazing K: BB ratio (166-38 last year)and excellent WHIP, and is playing in the mediocre NL Central where he should be able to get many wins

theres plenty of dave bushs lol, lidge is a legit closer that will start the season with the job and more than likely will recover from his pujols syndrome this year...
