You will soon, hopefully, come to see that there is no normal in pregnancy. Every single woman will experience different things. Most generally, back pain during pregnancy is lower back pain. But the back pain you're having could have absolutely nothing to do with your pregnancy. It could be a number of things. So what I'm saying, is you may have upper back pain. There is NO normal.

Any back pain is normal. It's like you're carrying a sewing machine strapped to your belly, and your spine isn't used to carrying all that weight.

If you find that you're at a computer a lot or you have a job that requires you to sit down, you're going to really have to get conscious of your posture. It's so easy to slouch, and sometimes it's actually more comfortable during pregnancy... but the comfort doesn't last and eventually you start to feel the side effects.

Also, because your center of gravity shifts as the baby grows, watch how you walk. Many women finally just forego the normalcy of their stride and begin to waddle... because it feels better on our feet, knees, hips, and back. There's no shame in it. One waddling pregnant woman will just smile at another waddling pregnant woman and go on. Women who have been there totally get it. The penguins do it, so why can't we?
