Arizona, Maryland and Wyoming. Most states which once used lethal gas abandoned the method in favor of lethal injection due to the difficulty of safely maintaining these facilities, some of which were shown to be at risk for leaks.

As an aesthetic matter, the gas chamber is greatly disfavored. essentially, you are watching a person try to hold their breath long enough to not take in the gas. Also, there is the financial issue of clean up and prep for the chamber. Because it is poisonous gas, the body dead has to be handled very carefully after the execution and the chamber has to be washed down in a specific way that is relatively expensive compared to the cleanup following lethal injection and the chair, both of which have their own draw backs.

As of December 2006 5 states have the chamber as a method: Arizona, California, Maryland, Missouri, and Wyoming (all have lethal injection as an alternative method).
