I am latin but have light skin, when I use light makeup it looks pink on me and it does not blend with my skin tone. If I try something darker, it looks orange. My skin tone is olive. Where can I buy makeup that will blend in?

The most important factor in choosing makeup colors is determining your skin tone. Here's how to determine your skin tone.

Warm skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear green.
2. Gold jewelry is more flattering than silver jewelry.

Cool skin tone:
1. Look at inner wrist - veins will appear blue.
2. Silver jewelry is more flattering.

Look at your wardrobe and hold up a few items in different colors against your face. Which ones appear more flattering to you in a mirror with natural sunlight? Which colors are you drawn to?

If you are not sure, ask one or two trusted friends or family members who's style you admire.

I suspect that when makeup looks orange on you it is picking up on the yellow undertones of your complexion. Sometimes coral shades and red-orange shades are recommended for olive or warm toned skin.

I have yellow undertones too & avoid anything w/ orange, yellow, peach, rust or coral undertones despite recommendations based on my having warm, medium to tan skin.

I'm guessing you are a cool tone and shoul try wearing blue based reds and jewel tones. (ex. purlple, lavender, true pink, grey taupes)

Try the guidelines above and see if they help you select more flattering makeup.

Good luck.

I have this problem too, I have a similar tone to you and just last week I went to a Sephora store as I wanted to try mineral makeup and the makeup artist there selected the colors for me. He selected the medium tan for which I thought was way too dark just by looking at it but on my skin it blends perfectly. So - my suggestion to you is to go to any Sephora or makeup counter at any dept store such as Macy's(try Mac or Clinique or Estee Lauder) and ask for one of their artists to make you up (it is always free) and you are not obligated to buy anything.

Try using sheer cover. It allows you to blend the powder to get the right tone for your face. Also try only using foundation to even out skin tone instead of putting it all over your face( around cheeks, nose, and eyes)

Try Clinique, they have foundation colors with a yellow undertone. Have them find your color and ask for samples to take home. You can try it out for a few days.
