Brad Lidge had one of his worst year since inheriting the closer job from Billy Wagner in 2004, posting a career high 5.28 ERA and starting to lose his job from time to time, but there is hope:

- In 2006, he posted 32 Saves, good enough to place 6th among NL relievers and had 104 strikeouts, second among MLB relievers and the third consecutive season he had triple digit strikeouts as a closer.

- However, his ERA has risen up the past three years, along with the WHIP (Walk+Hits per inning) and hits. Also, he hitting at the age of 30.

-With more motivation to win the closer job this spring than rather being handed to, Lidge will quickly turn his horrible 2006 into a comeback season with his health and arsenal still in tact. His value can still land coveted starters such as Roy Halladay and 1B Adrian Gonzalez via trades.

Dave Bush's stats just might be average at best for most people, but take a look closer:

- Despite his 4.41 ERA and a 12-11 record, he posted his first triple strikeout season (166) while managing to hand out just 38 BB in 210 innings (a ratio of 4.4 in K/BB, tied for first among NL pitchers).

- He'll be turning 27 this season, a magic number for an MLB player to breakout, and posted good command in his pitches in 2006. If he didn't pitch for Milwaukee, he be an up-and-coming "ace" but he still worth as a starter with his skills. Some notable players for his trade value this season includes Barry Ztio, Javier Vazquez, and Joe Borowski.

Whichever player your trading, I hope to take this fact into consideration. Good luck.

Brad Lidge is definitely the better player in this deal - Closers are very hard to find and if he can go back to the way he pitched 2 seasons ago he will be a steal... don't get me wrong, Dave Bush is good - but starting pitchers are a dime a dozen and good ones always emerge as the season progresses (i.e. - Liriano, Verlander, Cain, Hamels, etc. from last year)

If you are getting Lidge then take the deal now before he realizes he is giving up one of the most difficult spots to fill.
