My boyfriend is teaching me how to play guitar, and im learning Adam's Song by Blink 182. it's a really slow melody & really pretty.
Also, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd is a good song for learning how to flat pick, too. :]
Nothing Else Matters by Metallica is a good one too. The intro is completely open picking.
Knocking on Heaven's Door - The BOB DYLAN version. It's just G D C (chords)
Also - ANY Nirvana song (if you're into grunge) Such as, Smells Like Teen Spirit & Come As You Are

go to www.musicnotes.com and download guitar guru. easy to learn songs and plays it on a on line guitar so you can see the notes and listen to the song.. Has alot of easy songs to learn. I use it and im playing pretty good now... cool site.. hope this helps... good luck..
