For the sake of the nation, Gonzales isn't doing any more harm recently than he's done last year, or the year before. So, for the sake of the nation, there's no reason Gonzales should step down.
Gonzales should step down out of respect for the integrity of the profession, and because he has violated his oath of office by failing to uphold and defend the Constitution.

Yes. There shouldn't even be a debate over this. He should be immediately fired.
Anyone that thinks otherwise, is using politics to make that decision and should ask themself what if he was a Democrat...
Gonzales committed an absolutely terrible, destruction act against justice. What kind of liberty and justice for all would this country have if we went around firing judges and prosecuting attorneys just because they were not conducting their cases to match our political goals.... shameful.
Some ppl are mentioning that Clinton fired all 93 US attorneys when he took office.... the key to that is WHEN HE TOOK OFFICE. That's like if you were hired to be a CEO of a failing corporation. Of course as soon as you take on the job, you would clean house of all the riff raff.
But in this case, this was political after the prosecutors were not doing what Bush wanted.

No, unless he had personal knowledge of what happened. It sounds like someone within his network had personal direct action involved.
This is not like Enron, when there is evidence that the owners did have knowledge of wrongdoing, however, if evidence does emerge that Gonzalez did know and approved of this action, I stand corrected.
The liberal media is really playing this one up because there is no evidence that Gonzales is involved at all, but just because he is the boss, he should resign.
I would love to hold all liberals to that kabob.
Flames are getting higher, aren't they Ted K (and many others)???

Yes. I despise the fact that US Attorneys are appointed anyway. That needs to change. Power to the people. Put it to a vote.

Absolutely not. He is doing a good job. The DOJ uncovered some mistakes being made & Gonzales is taking steps to remedy the situation. This is a rare case of a govt dept functioning as it should.
Shumer needs to grab his ears very tightly & pull his head out of his butt.

If Gonzales has to step down for the firing of the FBI officials, then the entire Congressional committee that oversees the FBI should also step down. They won't step down, so I see no reason for Gonzales to step down either.
