My kids, i guess know some kids from school that are Goth,
What is Goth?

Those people giving you answers like "they're Satanic", "they like Satanic imagery", "they wear lots of black lipstick" etc. are wrong, wrong, wrong. They don't know what they're talking about, and assume that the depressed kiddos in their school who wear black and chains are "Goth" when this is simply not true. Please read through that website, it will give you good insight into the history of Goth subculture!

To all the fools who are saying the goths are devil worshippers, your idiots. From personal experience i have to say that there is no clear cut definition of "goth" simply because goth is what you make it. Some of the popular ideas of goth are wearing all black, which is probably the only central thing to most gothic people. Some gothic people are depressed while others are very intellectual and very artistic people. Goths are not a bad thing, though don't get me wrong there are a fair share that do drugs and bad stuff all the time. But to compare...most teenage prostitutes aren't the low class family girls, but the upper class teenage girls. Essentially being afraid of goths is like being a racist in a way. I consider myself to be gothic, and I wear all black most of the time and have a typically dark/morbid view on life (which i see as a more logical view on life)...While you might sit there and think that all this coming from a goth isn't what you are looking for, i'll have you know i keep a GPA of about 3.5 out of 4 and go to a vocational school for Electro-Mechanical Automated Systems and have been accepted into Pennsylvania College of Technology. So with that in mind, to classify all goths as bad would be completely inaccurate. Just keep an eye on your kids, no reason to hide them from the goths. And i'll even go to the extreme to tell you that if they do hang out with the goths (or any other group) and get involved with drugs or anything like that. its not neccesarily a bad thing...it will let them grow on their own and learn decision making..just try to stay involved with them and they'll turn out alright.

goth is a stereo-type where kids are depressed. also to show this they put on pasty white make-up and scary eyeliner to get attention. their clothes are usually black, dark purple or red. the vampire thing is very in right now with them. So if you really want to know go to

Goth is short for Gothic.... at school it pretty much just means people who wear all black and like sort of dark stuff... it usually doesn't mean anything.. they just want to make a statement or something... :)

goth is a sub culture they took over from the british rock punk,we have them in australia,dress in all black spiked belts that kind if think,quite a harmless group who just like to stand out in the crowd

people who simply have a very dark aspect and view on life, they commonly wear black, chains and crosses (some even upside down to represent the fact that they think slvation is unatainable)
but sometimes its just a group of freaks who dress weird to get attention, but then get pissed when they get it, just because they are trying to be "individuals"

Well, in the general sense of the term, it's people, mostly young adults/teens, who feel that wearing dark colors, listening to heavy metal/punk rock, being morbid, and acting satanically will help them express themselves. They tend to dye their hair black, or weird colors like green or red, and wear jewelry with satanic connotations.
