Daylight Savings Time is a strictly American toy.

We thought it would help our farmers get more production if they had more hours of daylight in the evening. It was also supposed to help save energy. The idea was that if there were an extra hour of sunlight in the evening, then we'd need less electricity to light our homes. The darkness would persist an extra hour in the morning, when many people are still sleeping anyways.

In other countries, they would just think we're arrogant--we think we should control time.
