"Lullaby of Broadway" is a great one. It's easy to learn, it's not TOO rangey, and sheet music is easy to find. It's also age appropriate.

NEVER do a song from the show you are auditioning for. This is a major rookie mistake. It's good to do a song from a similar style of show, but it is HIGHLY regarded as a faux pas to do a song from the show in question.

Don't sing anything from the play your trying out for! It will almost grantee you won't get a part. Try some thing from "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" those song are appropriate for your age, up-beat, and easy to sing. Here's the official sight so you can preview a few of the song: http://www.spellingbeethemusical.com/
I recommend "I Speak Six Languages" it's a great song for girls of any age and vocal range.

only sing your heart out! carry out in front of others via testing for solos, do a skills teach, type a band, or (whilst this is mandatory and its a appropriate time do it) sing at school. in case you ought to make up a music then only think of of something that conjures up you and you may get an amazing music on your head. no longer all songs ought to rhyme or have a "particular" which potential. i've got found out that listening to a good number of option rock. additionally, this is nice in case you do no longer play guitar or piano. some singers can not play gadgets to boot.

Research the play and the part you want.
Is it a dramatic play? Funny?
I suggest doing something from that musical.
But don't pick something too hard (unless you can do it amazingly!) you need to be comfortable with your audition and it should show off your range well.
You really can't sing a dramatic song for a funny show.
Sing something that will fit well with the show and the character you want and don't forget to act! Act through the song!

Sing a song from the musical you are trying out for if the play is a musical. It will show that you'd be good for a role in the play and that you have done your research.
