I just read my first graphic novel for an English class and it was so good! It's Maus volumes I and II by Art Spiegelman. It's a true story about the Holocaust. It's about a writer who is telling his dad's story, and it has so many layers to it, it's really incredible. It's a very different way to tell a true story about the Holocaust. Otherwise, I always recommend James Patterson, he's a great author, whether it be murder mystery or a love story.

Four Fires by Bryce Courtenay.
Australian Author (best known for "The Power of One")
A fantastic and completely plausible story abou the life of a family growing up in Australia after World War 1. The father a vet. Four boys, two girls, and their Mum.
Very graphic in parts. very descriptive throughout. An enchanting read. It carries you away and you can imagine yourself there, in the times, as a neighbour even, looking at the lives of this very diverse family.

Eragon and Eldest, both by Christopher Paolini. They are the best if you like this type of book. Eragon is the first book in the series and Eldest is the second, and I am anxiously awaiting the third book!

Michael Crichton- basically anything he writes is good! He wrote one book that gave me nightmares, but I couldn't stop reading it, called PREY. It's about nanotechnology gone awry.
Steven King also thrills me(haha). He does stuff that COULD happen too, Cell for instance.
Depends what you like! There is something out there for everyone!!!!
