What are some tips and ways to becoming a good driver to the basket... Basically how do you do it? What are some moves to drive and what are the angles do you need to take when you drive?

first off i would say to not do all that cross-over and1 dribbling crap. it is completely pointless and all it does is tire you out. a good defender will not be fooled at all. what i do is bring the ball up slow kind of non-chalantly. scan the court and look for gaps or holes on the court that you can exploit. just think of the defenders as cones. once you find where you want to go, look the other way and then explode into the gap. you have to make sure you commit and do not hesitate. as soon as a defender starts to shift over and reach for the ball pick up the dribble, take your two steps and shoot a lay-up or a floater. it just depends on how far you are from the basket.

For driving, you have to have some crossover or behind the back dribble move down, to get pass the defender guarding you. Then you have to find an opening, if you're quick, and get through it right away and take a shot. If you're not, and are just average, push your body between 2 defenders, and go up. Almost always called as a foul, or you get an easy shot. Make sure you don't run into one person's chest.

Try some nice crossover moves to throw him off guard.
That's what I try to do.
Also, my favorite way to do it is to just blow by them.
I'm not too big in the height department but I use my speed to blow by him and go in. If they try to go up against me while I go around them, I just keep pushing back.

Oh, and on angles, try a sort of half-circle kinda angle.
And ALWAYS try to go for it when you have an open lane. (clear path to the basket)

the whole key is foot work....knowing your pivot foot...or not establishing one ...it keeps the defender of guard of knowing which way you will go.....just email me if u want to know more details....really...its so long to explain... xxknomexx@yahoo.com
