iud compared to depo shot and possible side effects?

i got the depo shot for a year and it was a complete nightmare due to side effects. i became depressed, gained 20 pounds, and lost my sex drive along with many other problems. is the iud anything like the depo shot and what are possible side effects. i would like to here from people who had the iud.

I have the Mirena IUD...........the only side effects I have from it is spotting off and on..........and no more heavy painful periods.
